The Slopes
The local slopes here in Sassotteto, Maddallena and Bolognola provide a quieter alternative to the huge commercial resorts and are literally only a short scenic drive away. The drive up the windy mountain road offers breath-taking views and a visit to Lake Fiastra is highly recommended for those who prefer a leisurely walk, brisk hike or cycling, followed by an authentic lunch in one of the surrounding restaurants.

Interspersed with a relaxing drink or two, and inevitably followed by good food, in true Italian fashion, the local slopes are incredibly popular particularly at the weekend.

There is an excellent Ski School for beginners or improvers, as well as enough variety for the more experienced skier with plenty of off-piste opportunities for the more adventurous.

For more extensive resorts there is also the option to adventure further into the Apennines about 1hr drive, or south to Roccaraso Ski Resort, about 2 hours drive from Sarnano.

We can assist with local Ski Hire, transport and how to obtain your lift passes. There is plenty of room at the apartment to store and dry off skis, boots and coats.
